Bellarine Websites

Bellarine Websites is a small web design business run by Paris Halkidis, in this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Bellarine Websites.

 

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Small businesses under $3 million turnover are not always legally bound by the Privacy Act, but we choose to follow it.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and do the work.

Information you give us

  • Your name, email address and phone number, when you fill in a form on this site or contact us directly.
     

  • Your business name, existing website address, and details about the project you're describing.
     

  • Anything else you choose to include in a message to us.

Information collected during a project

  • Content you send us for your website: text, images, logos, product details, staff photos and similar material.
     

  • Invoicing details. We do not collect or store your credit card or bank account numbers — payments are handled by your bank or by our payment provider directly.

Information collected automatically

  • Standard web server logs: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring page and timestamps.
     

  • Aggregate analytics about how visitors use this site.

You can contact us anonymously or under a pseudonym if you'd rather. We can't prepare a quote or build you a website without a way to reach you, but a general question doesn't need your real name.

 

We do not collect sensitive information (such as health, financial, biometric or government identifier data), and we ask that you don't send it to us.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
     

  • To design, build, launch and maintain your website
     

  • To invoice you and keep the business records we're required by law to keep.
     

  • To improve this website and understand what visitors find useful.
     

  • To send you occasional updates about our services — only if you've asked for them. Every such email includes an unsubscribe link, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses cookies — small files stored by your browser. Some are strictly necessary for the site to work (for example, remembering your colour theme preference). Others are used for analytics, so we can see which pages get visited and where visitors come from.

 

Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work, though some preferences won't be remembered.

Who else sees your information

We use a small number of third-party services to run the business. Each only receives what it needs:

  • Wix — hosts this website and processes form submissions.
     

  • Google Analytics — aggregate website usage statistics.
     

  • Our email and accounting providers — correspondence and invoicing.

These providers have their own privacy policies, and some of them store data on servers outside Australia (including in the United States and the European Union). By using this site or sending us an enquiry, you consent to that overseas disclosure. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers, but we can't control how an overseas provider handles data once it's in their systems.

 

We may also disclose your information where we're required or authorised to by law.

How we store and protect it

Your information is held in password-protected accounts with the providers listed above, secured with strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication where the provider supports it.

 

This site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit through it is encrypted in transit.

 

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

How long we keep it

  • General enquiries that don't become projects: Two years or less, then deleted.
     

  • Client and invoicing records: seven years, as required by Australian tax law.
     

  • Project files and website content: kept while we're working with you, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us.​

You can ask us to delete your information sooner, and we will unless we're legally required to keep it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it.
     

  • Correct anything that's wrong, out of date or incomplete.
     

  • Delete your information, where we're not required by law to keep it.
     

  • Stop sending you marketing emails.

Email us at hello@bellarinewebsites.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge for making a request, and we may ask you to verify your identity first.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your personal information, please tell us first — email hello@bellarinewebsites.com.au and we'll investigate and respond within 30 days.

This site links to other websites, including those we've built for clients. We're not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any site we link to. Have a read of their privacy policy before handing over information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always lives at this address, with the "last updated" date at the top. If we make a significant change affecting how we handle information you've already given us, we'll let you know by email.
